This Read Me file contains information regarding the drivers for
TouchChip authentication hardware.

The Drivers directory on your installation CD contains driver(s) necessary
for your TouchChip authentication hardware. This driver may be already
present on your computer (imaging devices).

It is recommended to install your authentication hardware before you start 
the Protector Suite installation.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

To install the driver, if you are using built-in sensor:

1. Open the Device Manager window.
  (Right-click MyComputer icon, or use shortcut Windows Key + Pause,
   on Windows98/ME: select "Device Manager" tab;
   on Windows2000/XP: select "Hardware" tab and click the "Device Manager"
   button)
   Then perform "Scan for hardware changes".
2. When prompted for drivers, insert the installation CD.
   Depending on your operating system you may be required to enter 
   the path to the \Drivers directory.

To install the driver, if you are not using built-in sensor:

1. Plug in your fingerprint device.
2. If no "Found New Hardware" or similar dialog is displayed,
   open the Device Manager window:
  (Right-click MyComputer icon, or use shortcut Windows Key + Pause,
   on Windows98/ME: select "Device Manager" tab;
   on Windows2000/XP: select "Hardware" tab and click the "Device Manager"
   button)
   Then perform "Scan for hardware changes".
3. When prompted for drivers, insert the installation CD.
   Depending on your operating system you may be required to enter 
   the path to the \Drivers directory.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
