Identification To confirm that this is the correct BIOS update for your motherboard, perform the following steps. If the computer is turned off: 1. Turn on the computer. At the eMachines screen, press the Tab key. This screen goes by quickly so it may be necessary to press the Pause key on the keyboard. 2. If K8M-800M is listed on the bottom of the screen, this is the correct BIOS. To continue the startup, press the Delete key on the keyboard. If the computer is turned on and in Windows: 1. From the Start menu, click Shut Down. In the Shut Down Windows dialog box, select Restart, and then click Yes. 2. As soon as the computer restarts, at the eMachines screen, press the Tab key. This screen goes by quickly so it may be necessary to press the Pause key on the keyboard. 3. If K8M-800M is listed on the bottom of the screen, this is the correct BIOS. To continue the startup, press the Delete key on the keyboard. Installation 1. Download the file to the desktop. 2. On the desktop, double-click the D00254-001-001.exe file. The needed files extract to the C:\Cabs\D00254-001-001 folder. 3. From the Start menu, click Run. 4. In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\D00254-001-001\Setup.exe. Click OK. 5. In the Realtek AC'97 Audio Setup dialog box, click Next 6. The driver is installed. 7. In the Realtek AC'97 Audio Setup dialog box, click Yes, I want to restart my computer now, and then click Finish. Removal 1. From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. 2. In Control Panel, double-click the Add or Remove Programs icon. 3. In the Add or Remove Programs window, click Realtek AC'97 Audio, and then click Change/Remove. 4. The driver is removed. 5. In the Realtek AC'97 Audio Setup dialog box, click Yes, I want to restart my computer now, and then click Finish. Troubleshooting If you have difficulty installing the new driver, download the file again, and then perform the installation steps. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
