1. Introduction ----------------------------------------------------------------

The imagePROGRAF Media Configuration Tool (hereafter Media Configuration Tool) is a software utility that registers new media types to the printer and related software according to your choice of paper.

2. System Requirements ----------------------------------------------------------

The following hardware and software are recommended for this software:

        Any computer running the software listed above.

        Canon imagePROGRAF W6400/W6400D/W8400/W8400D



3. Precautions During Installation ---------------------------------------------

* For more about installation the procedure, please refer to the manual.

* You must log into Windows as an Administrator before the installation.

* Before the installation, close all the other application software. You cannot install with imagePROGRAF Status Monitor running.



4. Cautions, Limitations, and Restrictions -------------------------------------

Note the following limitations when using this software.

- Before starting Media Configuration Tool, close all the other application software and the printer driver screen.

- When registering, adding or editing the media types with Media Configuration Tool, the printer automatically resets, and the communication will be temporarily terminated.

- In order to be able to change the settings for the country or region in which the printer will be used after installation, you must uninstall the Media Configuration Tool, and then do the installation again.

- The first time you switch the printer off after executing Update Media Types, this may take a little longer than when the printer is cycled on and off normally.

- - In order to use this software, the printer firmware must be version V1.2x or later.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
