Before You Get Started

1. Introduction -----------------------------------------------------

  Thank you for using Canon IJ Network Tool.
  With this product, you can view or configure the network settings
  of the Canon IJ printer that is connected through a network.

2. Product Contents -------------------------------------------------

  This product includes the following items.

  Canon IJ Network Tool
    This is the application software that allows you to view or
    configure the network settings of the Canon IJ printer that is
    connected through a network.

  Uninstaller
    This deletes unnecessary files related to Canon IJ Network Tool.

  Canon IJ Network Tool ReadMe (readme.txt)
    This file. It provides important information about Canon IJ 
    Network Tool.
    When you are finished with installation, select [Start]-
    [(All) Programs]-[Canon IJ Network Utilities]-[Canon IJ Network 
    Tool]-[Canon IJ Network Tool ReadMe] to display the contents of
     this file.

Network Setup using Canon IJ Network Tool
======================================================================

1. Starting Canon IJ Network Tool -----------------------------------

  To start Canon IJ Network Tool, follow the procedures below.

  1. Select [Start]-[(All) Programs]-[Canon IJ Network Utilities]-[Canon IJ
      Network Tool]-[Canon IJ Network Tool].
     Canon IJ Network Tool will start and search for the printers 
     that can be set up.

     Note:
     - You can also start the program by double-clicking 
       "C:\Program Files\Canon\Canon IJ Network Tool\CNMNPUT.EXE."


2. Configuring the network settings ---------------------------------

  Select the printer to be set up from the printers that have been
  detected, and then click [Configuration]. In the [Configuration]
  dialog box that appears, enter the settings on each tab as
  necessary.
  To see an explanation of each item, click [Help].


3. Exiting Canon IJ Network Tool ------------------------------------

  1. Select [Exit] from the [File] menu.


4. Restrictions on Use of Canon IJ Network Tool ---------------------

  The following restrictions are placed on the use of this product.
  Pay attention to these restrictions before use.

   - If the printer to be set up is not detected when Canon IJ 
     Network Tool is started up, click the [Update] button. Also, 
     check that the printer power is on. 

   - Do not start Canon IJ Network Tool during printing.

   - Do not print when Canon IJ Network Tool is started up.

   - Canon IJ Network Tool has been verified to work on Windows XP, 
     however, it does not support Fast User Switching. 
     It is recommended to exit Canon IJ Network Tool when switching 
     users.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
