Identification To confirm that this is the correct BIOS update for your motherboard, perform the following steps. If the computer is turned off: 1. Turn on the computer. At the eMachines screen, press the Tab key. This screen goes by quickly so it may be necessary to press the Pause key on the keyboard. 2. If K8M-800M is listed on the bottom of the screen, this is the correct BIOS. To continue the startup, press the Delete key on the keyboard. If the computer is turned on and in Windows: 1. From the Start menu, click Shut Down. In the Shut Down Windows dialog box, select Restart, and then click Yes. 2. As soon as the computer restarts, at the eMachines screen, press the Tab key. This screen goes by quickly so it may be necessary to press the Pause key on the keyboard. 3. If K8M-800M is listed on the bottom of the screen, this is the correct BIOS. To continue the startup, press the Delete key on the keyboard. Installation Prepare your computer Before updating your computer's BIOS, enter the current BIOS Setup Utility and write down each of the current settings in the event that this information is needed again after the upgrade. Note: The following instructions may vary, depending on the operating system loaded on the computer. Update the BIOS 1. After you have downloaded and double-clicked the BIOS update file (VVC08EM.exe), the needed files self-extract and copy into the C:\Cabs\VVC08EM folder on the hard drive. 2. From the Start menu, click Run. 3. In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\VVC08EM\flash08.bat 4. The BIOS file automatically runs and installs the update. 5. A System Shutdown appears and the computer automatically restarts after 2 minutes. Removal A motherboard must have a BIOS to operate, therefore there is no removal procedure. Troubleshooting When the computer restarts, if the CD/DVD drive is not recognized or if a Checksum error occurs, restart the computer, enter the BIOS Setup Utility, and then select Load Optimized Defaults. Save and exit Setup. Note: After resetting to the default values and restarting, you may need to enter the BIOS Setup Utility again to reset the desired parameters, such as the Boot Priority. If you have difficulties installing the BIOS update, download the file again, and then ensure that all installation steps in this document are followed. If a Checksum error message appears, enter the BIOS Setup Utility, change to default values, and then restart the computer. Reasons for Update This is the latest BIOS revision for the K8M-800M motherboard. This BIOS resolves a distorted video issue when using an AGP video card. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
