This README file contains installation notes and important
Information for the Alps Pointing-device Driver.

The Alps Pointing-device Driver is software to use the Alps 
Touch Pad comfortably with the Windows system. 
The Alps Pointing-device Driver is compatible with most 
standard mice and similar pointing devices.

2. Installing the Alps Pointing-device Driver

 This driver requires Windows Vista (32-Bit).
 The installation procedure of the Alps Pointing-device driver
 under Windows Vista are:

  1) From the Start menu, select the "Control Panel".
  2) Double-click "Device Manager".
  3) Click the "Continue" button on the User Account Control
     window.
  4) Double-click the "PS/2 Compatible Mouse" under the 
     "Mice and other pointing devices" in the Device Manager
     window.
  5) Click the "Driver" tab in the "PS/2 Compatible Mouse
     Properties" window.
  6) Click "Update Driver..." button, and Update Driver
     software window appears.
  7) Click "Browse my computer for driver software".
  8) Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my
     computer".
  9) Click "Have Disk..." button.
 10) Specify the folder where you have copied driver files 
     in the "Install From Disk" window, and click "OK" 
     button.
 11) Click "Alps Touch Pad", and click "Next" button. Driver
     installation will start.
 12) When Windows has finished installing the ALPS driver,
     click the"Close" button in the Update Driver software
     window.
 13) Click the "Close" button in the Alps Touch Pad
     Properites window.
 14) Windows will prompt you to restart your system.
     Click "Yes" button to restart your system.

3. Using the Alps Pointing-device Property Sheets

 Alps Pointing-device Property Sheets provides easy to use 
 method of customizing pointing device settings.

 The procedures to open the Alps Pointing-device property 
 sheets are:
 
  1) From the Start menu, select the "Control Panel".
  2) Double-click "Mouse" to open the "Mouse Properties".

 The setting changes in the "Mouse Properties" window will 
 be stored and be effective after you click the [OK] or 
 [Apply] button.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
