1. INTRODUCTION
This document describes the device driver that supports
the Digi devices listed below. The driver is for use
with Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows XP, or
Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
Refer to the following number when searching the Digi
International Inc. Web site (www.digi.com) or the FTP
site (ftp.digi.com) for the latest software package:

4. UPDATE DRIVER
You need administrative privileges to update device drivers.
Please be sure you are logged into Windows as Administrator
or as a user that is a member of the Administrators group.
To update an existing AccelePort RAS driver, first perform these
steps:
1. Unzip the driver installation package to a folder of your
choice.
2. Run Dgarcln.cmd to remove previous Inf file versions.
Next, locate and follow the instructions for your specific
operating system:
WINDOWS 2000
a. First, navigate to the Device Manager and locate the device
whose device driver is to be updated:
o From the Desktop, right-click on "My Computer"
o Select "Manage"
o In the left-hand side of the Computer Management
window, select "Device Manager"
Locate the adapter to update:
o In the right-hand side of the window, expand the
device category wherein the adapter is located:
- If upgrading from version 4.0.229.0 (Rev. L) or
earlier, expand the category: "Network adapters"
- If upgrading from version 5.0.300.0 or later, expand
the category: "Multi-port serial adapters"
o Right-click on the device to update
o Choose "Properties"
Begin the update process:
o Click the "Driver" tab
o Click the "Update Driver..." button
o Click "Next >"
o Verify that the default option is selected, "Search for
a suitable driver for my device (recommended)"
o Click "Next >"
o Deselect all options
o Select the option, "Specify a location"
o Click "Next >"
o Enter the path to the new driver files and click "OK"
o Click "Next >"
b. Windows will display a "Digital Signature Not Found"
message, explaining that the driver is not signed. Click
"Yes" to continue the installation. You may see several of
these warnings -- simply click "Yes" for each message to
proceed with the upgrade.
c. Windows will now install the new device driver for the
adapter and its modems.
d. Follow any other instructions to complete the installation.
e. Click "Finish" to dismiss the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard.
f. Repeat steps a. through e. for each device you want to update.
Note that the device is installed as a Multi-port serial
adapter, and it is located in the "Multi-port serial adapters"
category of the Device Manager. Adapters running driver
versions 4.0.229.0 (Rev. L) and earlier were instead located in
the "Network adapters" category.
WINDOWS XP
WINDOWS SERVER 2003
The Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 update process is very
similar to the Windows 2000 update process.
a. First, navigate to the Device Manager and locate the device
whose device driver is to be updated:
o Open the Start menu
o Right-click "My Computer"
o Select "Manage"
o In the left-hand side of the Computer Management
window, select "Device Manager"
Locate the adapter to update:
o In the right-hand side of the window, expand the
device category wherein the adapter is located:
- If upgrading from version 4.0.229.0 (Rev. L) or
earlier, expand the category: "Network adapters"
- If upgrading from version 5.0.300.0 or later,
expand the category: "Multi-port serial adapters"
o Right-click on the device to update
o Choose "Properties"
Begin the update process:
o Click the "Driver" tab
o Click the "Update Driver..." button
o Click "Next >"
o Verify that the default option is selected, "Search
for a suitable driver for my device (recommended)"
o Click "Next >"
o Deselect all options
o Select the option, "Specify a location"
o Click "Next >"
o Enter the path to the new driver files and click "OK"
o Click "Next >"
b. Windows will display a dialog indicating that the
software has not passed Windows Logo testing. Choose
"Continue Anyway" to proceed with the upgrade. You
may see several of these warnings -- click "Continue
Anyway" for each message to continue the installation.
c. Windows will now install the new device driver for the
adapter and its modems.
d. Follow any other instructions to complete the installation.
e. Click "Finish" to dismiss the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard.
f. Repeat steps a. through e. for each device you want to update.
Note that the device is installed as a Multi-port serial
adapter, and it is located in the "Multi-port serial adapters"
category of the Device Manager. Adapters running driver
versions 4.0.229.0 (Rev. L) and earlier were instead located in
the "Network adapters" category.

5.1 Digi PortAssist Manager
---------------------------
This driver's PAM communication agent uses UDP Port 2363.
PortAssist Manager users will need to reconfigure the
PAM Server to use this port number instead of the default.
See the Users Guide at http://www.portassist.com for further
instructions.

o Fixed IOCTL_SERIAL_IMMEDIATE_CHAR (TransmitCommChar),
which was not waiting for previous request to complete.
o Fixed modem signals so that DTR and RTS default to high
on first open.
o Fixed throughput problems introduced in the M1P release.
o Added support for Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
o Updated AccelePort RAS firmware to M2 release. Detailed

Version 5.0.307.0 (M1P)

o Removed support for AccelePort Xp, DataFire RAS and
DataFire SYNC adapters.
o Enhanced co-installer to support the "Update Driver..."
functionality available through the Device Manager.
o Assigned new part number and released driver as new product.
o Fixed write timeout failure, in which timed-out writes were
being inadvertently completed with STATUS_CANCELLED.
o Fixed write timeout failure caused by enabling the "Write
Complete When Sent" option.
Version 4.0.229.0 (L Release)

o Fixed: DataFire Sync configuration dialog for X.25 does not
show up.
o Fixed: WanLinks driver does not remove keys from SERIALCOMM
when uninstalled.
o Fixed: The DigiAsyn.sys driver is hanging in an endless loop.
o Fixed: Multiple issues with E1/R2 parameter configuration.
o Fixed: The DigiAsyn.sys driver does not handle zero length read
requests correctly.
o Fixed: Some timed-out writes are being inadvertently completed
with STATUS_CANCELLED.
o Fixed: Write timeout does not work when Write Complete When
Sent option is enabled.
o Fixed: Dgclean.cmd does not delete DIGIMPS.inf and MDMDGDEN.inf
files.
o Fixed: DataFire Sync driver may crash during driver update or

Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
