Installation Instructions
=========================

You must install the drivers BEFORE installing the modem. If you don't do this, Vista will automatically install native Microsoft drivers which are not TAPI compliant.

First, unzip the drivers to a temporary folder (if you have not done so already). This folder can be deleted once the drivers are installed. Double-click the "setup.exe" file to install the driver.

Now shut down the computer, unplug the power cord, and install the modem. Once the modem is installed, re-attach the power cord and turn on the computer. Vista informs you that the modem is installed. Go into the program configuration (CallStation, Phone Plus, or IDentify!) and make sure that the modem is properly selected. You should be ready to go.

Note: If Vista installs default Microsoft drivers for any reason, it can be difficult to get the modified drivers installed. Vista may not allow you to update the drivers because the default drivers have a newer version number. If this happens, run CallStation, Phone Plus, or IDentify! to initialize the modem, then view your modem log file (Diagnostics tab in the Modem Properties). Look for a line stating the "Modem inf path". The inf path shows the name of the .inf file being used (something like "oem19.inf"). Make a note of it. Now close the log file and properties window, and close CallStation, Phone Plus, or IDentify!. Go to the Device Manager and uninstall the modem. Now locate the .inf file in your Windows\INF folder and delete it. Also delete the .pnf file with the same name. The Windows\INF folder is hidden so you may need to change your Explorer settings to see it. You should now be able to install the modified drivers by running the Setup.exe file. Once that is done, reboot your computer and things should be working properly. You can tell if the right drivers are installed or not by looking at the modem properties in the Device Manager and checking the "Driver" tab. If the modified drivers are installed then the Driver Version will be shown as 2.1.86.0.
