AudioBox Windows XP Driver Information File - Installation Instructions

Last modified: 2006-03-26

This procedure is required for installation of a SCSI AudioBox in Windows XP. The standard hardware installation process must be followed so that the computer knows that the AudioBox is correctly installed, even if it seems to be operating correctly now.

You should now have a folder called AudioBoxDriver with three files in it:
AudioBox.inf, 2KReadMe.txt and XPReadMe.txt (this file).

If you have not yet installed your SCSI adapter in Windows, please do so
now, WITHOUT the AudioBox connected to it.

Shut Windows down, power off your computer, connect the AudioBox to your
properly installed SCSI adapter and turn it on.

When your Windows XP computer boots up for the first time after the AudioBox is connected via a properly installed SCSI interface (and whenever the firmware is updated), the 'Found New Hardware Wizard' window should appear. If it does appear, please ignore the indented section below.

	If this window does NOT appear:

	1. Right click the 'My Computer' icon on your desktop and select Properties in the menu

	2. Click the 'Hardware' tab in the 'System Properties' window

	3. Click the 'Device Manager' button

	4. Highlight the AudioBox listing in the device tree under 'Other Devices'

	5. If there is no listing for the AudioBox here, highlight your computer's icon at the top of the device tree and select 'Scan for hardware changes'
	in the Action menu and the 'Found New Hardware Wizard' should appear;

	6. In the Action menu, select Properties

	7. In the window that appears, click the Driver tab then click the 'Update
	Driver' button and the 'Hardware Update Wizard' will appear;

	now go to instruction number 1, below

When the 'Found New Hardware Wizard' (or 'Hardware Update Wizard')appears:

1. In the 'Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard' (or the 'Welcome to the Hardware Update Wizard') window, select 'No, not this time' in response to connecting to the internet.

2. In the 'Found New Hardware Wizard' (or the 'Hardware Update Wizard') window select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" then click Next.

3. In the 'Please choose your search and installation options' window, select "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install" then click Next.

4. In the 'Hardware Type' window, select 'Show all Devices' then click Next. If 'AudioBox' is the only choice at this stage, then just click Next.

5. In the 'Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware' click 'Have Disk' and browse to the location of the AudioBox.inf driver file.
6. In the 'Locate File' window, with AudioBox.inf in the File Name field;
click Open.

7. In the 'Install From Disk' window; click OK.

8. In the 'Select a Device Driver' window; click Next.

9. If the 'Update Driver Warning' window appears; click Yes. The warning that the driver is not digitally signed can be safely ignored.

10. In the 'Start Device Driver Installation' window; click Next.
