AudioBox Windows 2000 Driver Information File - Installation Instructions

Last modified 2006-03-26

This procedure is required for installation of a SCSI AudioBox in Windows 2000. The standard hardware installation process must be followed so that the computer knows that the AudioBox is correctly installed, even if it seems to be operating correctly now.

Note: If you have already installed a default Microsoft 'Unsupported Device' driver for the AudioBox, you must uninstall this driver before proceeding.

You should now have a folder called AudioBoxDriver with three files in it:
AudioBox.inf, 2KReadMe.txt (this file) and XPReadMe.txt.

If you have not yet installed your SCSI adapter in Windows, please do so
now, WITHOUT the AudioBox connected to it.

Shut Windows down, power off your computer, connect the AudioBox to your
properly installed SCSI adapter and turn it on.

When your Windows 2000 computer boots up for the first time after
the AudioBox is connected via a properly installed SCSI interface
(and whenever the firmware is updated), the 'Found New Hardware Wizard'
window should appear. If it does appear, please ignore the indented section below.

	If this window does NOT appear:

	1. Right click the 'My Computer' icon on your desktop and select Properties in the menu

	2. Click the 'Hardware' tab in the 'System Properties' window

	3. Click the 'Device Manager' button

	4. Highlight the AudioBox listing in the device tree under 'Other Devices'
	If there is no listing for the AudioBox here, select 'Scan for hardware changes' in the Action menu and the 'Found New Hardware Wizard' window should appear

	5. In the Action menu, select Properties

	6. In the window that appears, click the Driver tab and click the 'Update 	Driver' button; the 'Update Device Driver Wizard' window will appear;

	now go to instruction number 1, below

When the 'Found New Hardware Wizard' window appears:

1. In the 'Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard' (or the 'Update Device Driver Wizard') window; click Next.

2. In the 'Install (or Upgrade) Hardware Device Drivers' window, select 'Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver'; click Next.

3. In the 'Hardware Type' window, select 'Other Devices' (or AudioBoxes if available); click Next.

4. In the 'Select a Device Driver' window, click 'Have Disk' and browse to the location of the AudioBox.inf driver file.

5. In the 'Locate File' window, with AudioBox.inf in the File Name field;
click Open.

6. In the 'Install From Disk' window; click OK.

7. In the 'Select a Device Driver' window; click Next.

8. If the 'Update Driver Warning' window appears; click Yes.

9. In the 'Start Device Driver Installation' window; click Next.
