Overview

This document describes the steps necessary to install and configure the Windows XP calibration drivers for the Gateway notebook computer models listed in the Applicable Part Numbers section below.


Identification

If you have a Gateway notebook computer model listed in the Applicable Part Numbers section below and are running Windows XP, install this driver.


Installation

Note: The files extract to the C:\Cabs\D00368-002-001 folder. Please complete all the steps listed in order to correctly install the calibration files.

1.  Open Control Panel. 

 From the Microsoft Windows XP default Start menu, click Control Panel. 
 From the Windows XP classic Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. 

2.  In Control Panel, open the System Properties dialog box. 

 If the computer is in Category View, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System. 
 If the computer is in Classic View, double-click the System icon. 

3.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager. 

4.  In Device Manager, double-click "? Unknown Device".

Note: Devices that do not have a driver install are listed under the yellow question mark "?" section in Device Manager.

5.  Click the Unknown Device listing, and then from the Action menu, click Update Driver.

6.  In the dialog box, click No, not at this time.

7.  In the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, click Next.

8.  In the next Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), and then click Next.

9.  In the next dialog box, click Don't search, I will choose the driver to install, and then click Next.

10.  In the next dialog box, click Human Interface Devices, and then click Next.

11.  In the next dialog box, click Have Disk.  

12.  In the Install From Disk dialog box, click Browse, and then path to the C:\Cabs\D00368-002-001 folder.

13.  In the C:\Cabs\D00368-002-001 folder, select the fphid.inf file.

14.  Click Open, and then click OK.

15  In the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, select FinePoint Innovations Tablet.  Click Next.

16.  Files copy.

17.  In the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, click Finish.

18.  In the System Settings Change dialog box, click Yes to shut down Windows and restart the computer.

Note: it is recommended that you restart the computer to ensure proper initialization of the driver once the above steps have been completed.

19.  Once the computer has restarted, from the Start menu, click Run.

20.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\D00368-002-001\M280Screenreg\M280Screenreg.exe.  Click OK.  This file automatically makes the appropriate registry updates.  This is a very quick update, and occurs without any further interaction. 

21.  Setup is complete.


Removal

These drivers are necessary for correct functionality of the computer and should not be removed.


Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulty during or after the driver installation, follow the installation steps again.
