Identification If you have a Gateway notebook computer listed in the Applicable Part Numbers section below and are running Windows XP, install this driver. Installation After you have downloaded and double-clicked the file (PL-2303), files self-extract and copy into the C:\Cabs\PL-2303 folder on the hard drive. 1. From the Start menu, click Run. 2. In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\PL-2303\PL-2303 Driver Installer.exe. Click OK. 3. At the Welcome to the InstallShield(r) Wizard for USB-to-Serial screen, click Next. 4. At the InstallShield(r) Complete screen, click Finish. 5. Installation is complete, and the installer automatically closes. Removal 1. From the Start menu, click Control Panel. 2. In Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs. 3. In the Add or Remove Programs window, select PL-2303 USB-to-Serial, and then click Change/Remove. 4. Click to select Yes, I want to restart my computer now, and then click Finish. 5. Removal is complete. Troubleshooting If you are having difficulty during or after the driver installation, follow the removal procedure, and then re-install the drivers. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
