Identification If the drivers were previously installed, the modem is identified under the Phone and Modem Options of the Device Manager as a Smart Link 56K Modem. Installation The file 9523936.exe is a self-extracting file that creates a directory on the C: drive titled "C:\Cabs\9523936" and extract files into that directory. 1. From the Start menu, click Run. 2. In the Run dialog box, type the path and location of the file 9523936.exe. (Example: C:\Cabs\9523936.exe) Click OK. The files automatically extract to the C:\Cabs\9523936 directory. 3. From the Start menu, click Run. 4. In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\9523936\Setup.exe. Click OK. Note: The path for the modem setup file will be different if the files were extracted into a directory other than specified in the previous procedures. 5. In the Setup Wizard Modem Installation dialog box, click the blue direction arrows. 6. In the Setup Wizard Modem Installation Setup Complete dialog box, click the green check mark. 7. The modem has been installed and will be available in the Modem Properties of the Control Panel. Removal The modem drivers can be removed by using the Add or Remove Programs feature in Control Panel. 1. Open Control Panel. If you are using the Windows XP default Start menu, from the Start menu, click Control Panel. If you are using the Classic Start Menu, from the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. 2. In Control Panel, open Add or Remove Programs. If you are in Category View, click Add or Remove Programs. If you are in Classic View, double-click Add or Remove Programs. 3. In the Add or Remove Programs window, click Smart Link 56K Modem, and then click Change/Remove. 4. In the Welcome to Uninstall Wizard dialog box, to remove the modem, click the >> button. 5. Files remove. 6. In the Uninstall Complete dialog box, ensure that Yes, I want to restart my computer now is selected, and then click the >> button. 7. The computer restarts and the removal is complete. Troubleshooting If you have difficulty installing the driver, download the file again, and then perform the installation steps. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
