========================== R E L E A S E N O T E S ========================== Broadcom ASF Configuration Utility for Windows Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Broadcom Corporation All rights reserved. NOTE: BMAPI.DLL v6.4.6 or later required for system ASF! table support. Version 7.1.0 (June 24, 2004) ------------------------------ Enhancements: ============= 1. Change: Converted ASFConfig.cpl (Control Panel Applet) to ASFConfig.exe (stand-alone executable). 2. Change: HTML Help filename changed from basfcfg.chm to ASFConfig.chm. Location of help file changed from system32 directory to utility directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\Broadcom\ASF). 3. Change: Name of HTML help file may be over-ridden with "HelpFile" registry key value. 4. Change: Application and Help file translated to 15 non-English locales: CHS, CHT, DAN, ESN, DEU, FIN, FRA, ITA, JPN, KOR, NLD, NOR, PTB, SVE, and THA. Version 7.0.3 (April 13, 2004) ------------------------------ Fixes: ====== 1. Problem: ASF! Description Table did not contain the following fields added in the ASF 2.0 specification: ASF_INFO.FeatureFlags, ASF_ALRT.AssertionEventMask, and ASF_ALRT.DeassertionEventMask. Change: Using the latest bmapi.h to decode and display these fields. 2. Problem: When re-selecting the pre-selected network adapter, if any changes were made to the ASF configuration (including importing the ASF! description table), ASFConfig would prompt to save changes. Change: The pre-selected network adapter now automatically has "focus", eliminating the "re-selection" event and the unnecessary "Save Changes?" message-box prompt. Enhancements: ============= 1. Change: Moved the clickable Logo/URL image from the network adapter's "Information" tab to the "About" dialog box. 2. Change: Support OEM-specific logo (bitmap) and URL in the "About" dialog box. See engnotes.txt for details. 3. Change: Allow all hints (e.g. "bubble help") to be disabled with the HKLM/Software/Broadcom/ASFConfig/ShowHints DWORD value set to 0. 4. Change: If BMAPI could not be initialized when ASFConfig is first opened, refreshing the network adapter list will attempt to initialize BMAPI again. Also, if BMAPI was never initialized successfully, ASFConfig will not attempt to un-initialize BMAPI when closed. 5. Change: Added "Copy to clipboard" popup menu option and keyboard shortcut (Ctrl-C) to ASF! Description Table dialog box. 6. Change: Added Broadcom Copyright notice to "About" dialog box. Version 7.0.2 (April 19, 2004) ------------------------------ Fixes: ====== 1. Problem: Wasn't importing the system ASF! Description Table into an adapter's ASF configuration table. Change: Automatically merges the system's ASF! Description Table and UUID from the SMBIOS into a selected adapter's ASF configuration table. 2. Problem: Prompts for "Save Changes" when first opening the control panel applet and initializing or refreshing the Network Adapter list view. Change: Don't check for modifications unless the network adapter has been de-selected along with the other conditions for the "Save Changes" prompt (e.g. refreshing the network adapter list, closing the control panel etc.) 3. Problem: Refreshing the network adapter list would leak a small amount of allocated memory. Change: Allocating the temporary adapter handle buffer from the stack rather than the heap. Enhancements: ============= 1. Change: New button and dialog to display the system's ASF! Description Table. 2. Change: The default selected network adapter is now the first adapter found (instead of the last). 3. Change: The display and edit-ability of most controls can be customized by an OEM with simple registry modifications. 4. Change: Display status/hourglass while retrieving NIC's ASF configuration table (indicating "Busy" status). 5. Change: OK and Cancel buttons no longer prompt to Save Changes (if changes were made). The answer is implied in the button clicked. 6. Change: Display the description of the currently-selected network adapter in error and question dialogs. Version 7.0.1 (April 13, 2004) ------------------------------ Fixes: ====== 1. Problem: (CQ 9844) After installing ASFConfig.cpl, the Windows Control Panel would crash Explorer.exe while displaying the control panel icons. Cause: Creating the Control Panel Applet's main form from the DllEntryPoint. Fix: Control Panel Applet's main form is created during the control panel activation (double-click) event instead. Enhancements: ============= 1. Change: Added popup menu to Network Adapter list-box (and F5-keyboard shortcut) for refreshing the network adapter list-box. Version 7.0.0 (April 12, 2004) ------------------------------ Fixes: ====== None. Enhancements: ============= 1. Change: This version is a complete re-write with the following enhancements: * Single Network Adapter selection list-box (for config and diagnostics) * Network Adapter list-box displays adapter's MAC and IP addresses * Huge reduction in size of source code (from 261K to 41K) * Simplified single-threaded applet * Intelligent disabling (graying) of controls when not applicable * Much improved handling/display of BMAPI errors * Correct window controls, icon, and behavior for Control Panel Applet * Completely re-written HTML help file with more screen captures * Tool-tips (pop-up "hint") for all controls (edit-boxes/checkboxes/etc.) * Uses terminology consistent with the ASF specification * OEM-customizable via optional Registry keys (e.g. HKLM/Software/Broadcom/ASFConfig/SecurityTabVisible = 0)Download Driver Pack
