Identification If you have a Gateway M520 or 7000 Series notebook computer and are running Windows XP, install these drivers. Installation When installing the Digital Media Reader the following process must be followed: 1. Insert a media type (such as Secure Digital, MemoryStick, CompactFlash and so forth) into the memory card reader. 2. In the C:\Cabs\9528159 folder, double-click Setup.exe to begin the installation. 3. In the Welcome dialog box, click Next. 4. When complete, the application does not notify you that setup is complete. 5. Remove the media from the memory card reader. 6. Shut down Windows and restart the computer. 7. Once the computer has restarted and is in Windows, insert the media into the media card reader, and then open My Computer. You will see an icon specific to the type of media that you have inserted in the computer. Removal Windows XP 1. Insert a media type (such as Secure Digital, MemoryStick, CompactFlash and so forth) into the memory card reader. 2. From the Start menu, click Control Panel. 3. In Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs. 4. In the Add or Remove Programs window, select Digital Media Reader, and then click Change/Remove. 5. Files remove. 6. Removal is complete. No further removal steps are necessary. Troubleshooting 1. If the media is not inserted into the computer when the application is installed, the application does not load correctly and the media icon does not display in My Computer. 2. If the media is not removed prior to restarting the computer, the computer may try to continuously restart at POST or restart. If you have difficulty during or after the driver installation, follow the removal procedure, and then re-install the drivers. Reason for Update This is the initial driver release. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
