Overview

This is the software and driver for the Gateway DMP-200 DMP-300 music players.  The file contains the Voice File Converter and Logo Editor programs, as well as the necessary driver to allow the device to work in Windows 98 SE.


Identification

A label with the serial number and model number are found on the back of the music player.  The sticker lists either model DMP-200 or DMP-300.


Installation

Download and download the 7513989 file.  The files automatically extract to the C:\Cabs\7513989 folder.

To install the Voice File Converter program

1.  From the Start menu, click Run.

2.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\7513989\Setup.exe.  Click OK.

3.  In the Digital Audio Player window, click Voice File Converter. 

4.  In the Choose Destination Location dialog box, click Next. 

5.  In the Select Program Folder dialog box, click Next. 

6.  Files copy. 

7.  Installation is complete.  In the Setup Complete dialog box, click Finish.

To install the Logo Editor program

1.  From the Start menu, click Run.

2.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\7513989\Setup.exe.  Click OK.

3.  In the Digital Audio Player window, click Logo Editor Install. 

4.  In the Choose Destination Location dialog box, click Next. 

5.  In the Select Program Folder dialog box, click Next. 

6.  Files copy. 

7.  Installation is complete.  In the Setup Complete dialog box, click Finish.

Installation of the Windows 98 SE driver

Note: The driver is only necessary to install if you have Windows 98 SE.  If you are using Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Windows Me, Windows automatically recognizes the music player.  There is no need to install a driver for Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Windows Me.

1.  Plug the MP3 player directly into an available USB port on your computer, or plug the player into the enclosed USB cable, and then plug the USB cable into the computer's USB port. 

2.  Windows detects the new hardware, and the Add New Hardware Wizard dialog box opens.  Click Next. 

3.  In the next Add New Hardware Wizard dialog box, click Next. 

4.  In the next dialog box, click to select the Specify a location check box, then type C:\Cabs\7513989.  Click Next.

5.  Windows finds the driver.  Click Next. 

6.  Installation is complete.  In the Add New Hardware Wizard dialog box, click Finish.

Program Use

From the Start menu, point to Programs, Gateway, and then click Voice File Converter or Logo Editor.


Removal

Voice File Converter Removal

Windows XP Removal

1.  Open Control Panel. 

 If you are using the Windows XP default Start menu, from the Start menu, click Control Panel. 
 If you are using the Classic Start Menu, from the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, open Add or Remove Programs. 

 If you are in Category View, click Add or Remove Programs. 
 If you are in Classic View, double-click Add or Remove Programs.

3.  In the Add or Remove Programs window, click Voice File Converter, and then click Change/Remove. 

4. In the Confirm File Deletion dialog box, click Yes. 

5. Files remove. 

6. Removal is complete.  In the Remove Programs From Your Computer dialog box, click OK.

Windows 2000, Windows Me, Windows 98 SE Removal

1. From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. 

2. In Control Panel, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.   In Windows Me, if you do not see this icon, click View all Control Panel options.

3. In the Add/Remove Programs window, click Voice File Converter, and then click Change/Remove. 

4. In the Confirm File Deletion dialog box, click Yes. 

5. Files remove. 

6. Removal is complete.  In the Remove Programs From Your Computer dialog box, click OK.


Logo Editor Windows Removal

Windows XP Removal

1.  Open Control Panel. 

 If you are using the Windows XP default Start menu, from the Start menu, click Control Panel. 
 If you are using the Classic Start Menu, from the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, open Add or Remove Programs. 

 If you are in Category View, click Add or Remove Programs. 
 If you are in Classic View, double-click Add or Remove Programs.

3.  In the Add or Remove Programs window, click Logo Editor, and then click Change/Remove. 

4.  In the Confirm File Deletion dialog box, click Yes. 

5.  Files remove. 

6.  Removal is complete. In the Remove Programs From Your Computer dialog box, click OK.

Windows 2000, Windows Me, Windows 98 SE Removal

1.  From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. 

2.  In Control Panel, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.   In Windows Me, if you do not see this icon, click View all Control Panel options.

3.  In the Add/Remove Programs window, click Logo Editor, and then click Change/Remove. 

4.  In the Confirm File Deletion dialog box, click Yes. 

5.  Files remove. 

6.  Removal is complete. In the Remove Programs From Your Computer dialog box, click OK.


Troubleshooting

If you are unable to install the driver or any of the software, delete the downloaded file and download the file again.


Reason for Update

This is the initial Gateway release of the driver and software for the Gateway DMP-200 & DMP-300 music player.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
