Overview


This document describes the steps necessary to install and configure the Gateway SoftK56 Data Fax Modem driver for the Solo(r) 9550 portable computer in Microsoft(r) Windows(r) XP.


Identification

If you have a Solo(r) 9550 portable computer and are running Microsoft(r) Windows(r) XP, install these drivers.


Installation

1.  In the C:\cabs\7512247 folder, double-click HXFSetup.exe.

2.  Several New Hardware Found dialog boxes open.  Files copy.  The driver is installed.


Removal

1.  On the Start menu, click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance.

3.  In Performance and Maintenance, click the System icon.

4.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

5.  In Device Manager, click the plus sign (+) next to Modems, and then double-click Gateway SoftK56 Data Fax.

6.  In the Gateway SoftK56 Data Fax Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab.

7.  On the Driver tab, click Uninstall.

8.  In the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK.

9.  Close Device Manager.


Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulty during or after the driver installation, follow the removal procedure, and then re-install the drivers.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
