This document lists the steps to updating the DMI field on your Solo

1.  Extract the file you downloaded from the Gateway website to a disk.
2.  Boot to the floppy disk.
3.  After the system boots to the floppy disk you will see a message saying:  "Your system has been identified as a Solo 9300.  Is this correct?"  If the system were a Solo 3300 it would identify it as such.
4.  If your system has been correctly identified type the letter Y and press Enter.  If your system has been incorrectly identified type the letter N and press enter.  Contact Technical Support if your system is incorrectly identified.
5.  If you typed Y and pressed Enter, you will see a message saying:  "Setting System Product Name"
6.  You will then be back at the A:\ prompt and you will then be able to reload your operating system if necessary.

The DMI field on your Solo has been updated.

Extract the files to a floppy diskette by copying the downloaded bios file 
to a blank formatted diskette.  Once the file has been copied to the floppy, 
extract the files by typing the EXE file name and then pressing enter.
OR
If the extracted files have already been copied to a directory on the Hard 
Drive, copy them to a blank diskette.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
