Overview

This is the keyboard BIOS for the Solo 5350 portable computer.


Identification

If you have a Solo 5350, portable computer upgrade to this BIOS.


Installation

The BIOS should be flashed if:

1.  You are updating to a newer BIOS revision.

2.  A Gateway technician has told you to flash or re-flash the computer.


Use the following steps to flash or re-flash the computer.


1.  Copy all of the BIOS files from the C:\CABS\7512657 folder to a bootable floppy disk. 

2.  Place the floppy disk in the floppy disk drive, and then restart the computer.

3.  At the A:\ prompt, type: KFLASH K300028.BIN.  Press the ENTER key to begin the BIOS flash process.

4.  The computer restarts when the flash is complete.


Removal

A computer must have a BIOS to operate.  The BIOS cannot be removed after it has been upgraded.


Troubleshooting

If you are having trouble flashing the BIOS, try it again following the steps listed in this document  If you are still unable to flash the BIOS, verify that you are actually attempting to flash the BIOS on a Solo 5350 and not on any other computer.  If this still fails, contact technical support.

Resolved tech support issue 267505110 - Solo 5350 Has Static Through the Internal Speakers When Connected to a Printer.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
