WARNING: THIS BIOS FLASH UTILITY SHOULD ONLY BE USED ON A SOLO 5100!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The ROM should be flashed if:

1) You are updating to a newer BIOS revision.
2) A Gateway 2000 technician has told you to flash/re-flash the computer.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

If there is still confusion about how to flash the Solo 5100 bios after
reading the instructions below, please contact Gateway 2000 Mobile Systems
Technical Support for assistance.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
To flash/re-flash the computer, follow the following steps:

1. Extract or copy bios files to a floppy diskette.
2. Make sure the system is plugged into A/C or has a minimum of 20%
    battery life remaining
3. Boot clean to the hard disk drive or to a bootable system diskette.
(see ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS below for further detail on how to boot clean)
4. Insert the diskette with the bios upgrade files into the floppy drive
and switch to the floppy drive by typing "A:" if necessary.
5. Type "SB927929.exe" and press <ENTER> to start the bios flash process.
NOTE: The program will then attempt to detect the system type and
install the appropriate bios. After the bios has been installed, the
system will turn itself off or reboot.
6. When the system reboots, press "F2" to enter the setup utility. An
error,"CMOS CHECKSUM INVALID, DEFAULT VALUES WILL BE LOADED," will be
    likely to occur.
7. Verify any previously customized CMOS settings are intact.
8. Move to the EXIT menu screen, select "Save Changes & Exit", press
<ENTER>, and press <ENTER> on continue.
9. The system will start to reboot. Remove the floppy diskette from the
    disk drive.

You have finished installing the new bios!
