Overview

This document describes the steps necessary to install and configure the audio drivers for the Solo 1400 in Windows XP.


Identification

If you have a Solo 1400 portable computer and are running Windows XP, install these drivers.


Installation

1.  Locate the folder on your hard drive where you downloaded the 7512033.exe file, and then double-click it.  Files extract to C:\cabs\7512033.

2.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.  

3.  In Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance.

4.  In the Performance and Maintenance window, click System.

5.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

6.  In Device Manager, double-click Sound, video and game controllers, and then double-click VIA AC'97 Audio Controller (WDM).

7.  In the VIA AC'97 Audio Controller (WDM) Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver.

8.  In the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, select Install from a list or specific location, and then click Next.

9.  In the next dialog box, select Don't search, I will choose the driver to install, and then click Next.

10.  In the next dialog box, click Have Disk.

11.  In the Install From Disk dialog box, type: C:\cabs\7512033. Click Next.

12.  The Hardware Update Wizard dialog box identifies the AC Link Audio.  Click Next.

13.  If a Hardware Installation dialog box opens, click Continue Anyway.

14.  In the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, click Finish.

15.  In the AC Link Audio Properties dialog box, click Close.

16.  Close Device Manager.


Removal

1.  From the Start menu, and click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click the System icon.

3.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

4.  In Device Manager, click the plus sign (+) next to Sound, video and game controllers, and then double-click Conexant AC-link Audio.

5.  In the Conexant AC-link Audio Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Uninstall.

6.  In the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK.  Close Device Manager.


Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulty during or after the driver installation, follow the removal procedure, and then re-install the drivers.


Reason for Update

This is the initial release of the drivers.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
