Overview

This is the keyboard BIOS 28.01 for the Solo 3450.


Identification

If you have a Solo 3450, you need to upgrade to this keyboard BIOS.


Installation

The keyboard BIOS should be flashed if:

1.  You are updating to a newer keyboard BIOS revision.

2.  A Gateway technician has told you to flash or re-flash the keyboard BIOS.


Use the following steps to flash or re-flash the keyboard BIOS. 

1.  Copy the BIOS files to a bootable floppy disk.  The default location of the BIOS files is C:\cabs\7511999.

2.  Verify that your system is connected to AC power and start your Solo 3450 to the floppy disk.

3.  At the A:\ prompt, type: 3400KBD H8DD10.BIN.  Press the ENTER key.

4.  When the BIOS has been flashed, the system turns off.

5.  Remove the disk from your floppy disk drive, and then restart your system.


Reason for Update

The keyboard BIOS was revised to add support for Windows XP.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
