Overview

This document describes the steps necessary to install the Agere Systems AC'97 modem drivers for the Gateway Profile 5 or Profile 5.5 in Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 2000.


Identification

If you have a Gateway Profile 5 or Profile 5.5 computer and are running Windows XP or Windows 2000, install these drivers.


Installation

After you have downloaded and double-clicked the file (9529014.exe), files are self-extracted and copied into the C:\Cabs\9529014 folder on the hard drive.

Windows XP

1.  From the Start menu, click Run.

2.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\9529014\WinXP\Setup.exe.  Click OK.

3.  In the Modem dialog box, click OK.

4.  The driver is installed.

Windows 2000

1.  From the Start menu, click Run.

2.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\9529014\Win2k\Setup.exe.  Click OK.

3.  In the Modem dialog box, click OK.

4.  The driver is installed.


Removal

Windows XP

1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs.

3.  In the Add or Remove Programs window, click Agere Systems AC'97 Modem, and then click Change/Remove.

4.  In the Warning dialog box, click Yes.

5.  In the Restart dialog box, click Yes.

Windows 2000

1.  From the Start menu, click Settings and then Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.

3.  In the Add/Remove Programs window, click Agere Systems AC'97 Modem, and then click Change/Remove.

4.  In the Warning dialog box, click Yes.

5.  In the Restart dialog box, click Yes.


Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulty during or after the driver installation, follow the removal procedure, and then re-install the drivers.


Reason for Update

This is the initial release of the driver.
