Overview

This document describes the steps necessary to install and configure the audio drivers for the Solo(r) 9550 portable computer in Microsoft(r) Windows(r) XP.


Identification

If you have a Solo(r) 9550 portable computer and are running Microsoft(r) Windows(r) XP, install these drivers.


Installation

1.  On the Start menu, point to Programs, Accessories, and then click Windows Explorer.

2.  In Windows Explorer, in the C:\cabs\7512374 folder, double-click Setup.exe.

3.  In the Welcome dialog box, click Next.

4.  In the Setup Complete dialog box, click Finish.  The computer restarts.


Removal

1.  On the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. 

2.  In Control Panel, select Performance and Maintenance, and then double-click the System icon.

3.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab.

4.  On the Hardware tab click Device Manager.
 
5.  In Device Manager, click the plus sign (+) next to Sound, video and game controllers.

6.  Select ESS Allegro PCI Audio (WDM), and then click the Uninstall button on the toolbar.  The button resembles a system with a red X over it. 

7.  When prompted to confirm removal, click OK.


Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulty during or after the driver installation, follow the removal procedure, and then re-install the drivers.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
