Readme.txt Driver File Contents (dvd079g.exe)

	This is Firmware Ver.7.9G for UJDA110L-QT.This firmware 
	resolves two symptoms:
	1. A failure while installing Windows95(JPN) OSR2
	2. The secondary IDE controller on the Solo 2500 may have 
	a yellow exclamation point in Windows 98 Device Manager which 
	results in the DVD-ROM not being recognized. 


****To Update Firmware from Floppy Diskette: 
	
	1. Download the file DVD079G.EXE onto a bootable
	   floppy. 

	2. Execute the file DVD079G.EXE by typing "DVD079G.EXE" (without " ") in Dos
	   or double clicking on the file in Windows

	3. The file will automatically extract the necessary 
	   firmware update files. 

	4. Restart the system with the floppy disk in the drive.  At the
	   A:\>  type the command to start the CD-ROM firmware upgrade.

	5. The following is the command needed to upgrade the 
	   firmware on a Solo 2500 only.
	

		T.bat [Enter]

	6. T.bat runs the command "fwmke20 079G.MOT MKEV2DVD".

	7. This makes the file 079G.MOT MKEV2DVD integrate into one 
	file
		An indication on PC when this file is executed is as 
		follows. 

		c:>fwmke20 079G.MOT MKEV2DVD

   		Flash Write for MKEV2DVD 970308
   		Sum : xxxx(4010-7FFF)
   		Sum : xxxx(4000-1FFEF)
   		Program Change Command success
  		Write Microcode Command ........ x.xxs success 
   		Read Microcode Command...........x.xxs success 
		<== complete transferring
   		Verify success
   		Synchronize Microcode Command <== start to write into 
		Flash ROM 
   		(Check-sum data may be diferrence from actual value 
		as indicated.)

	8. Reboot the system.

	9. Test the system while in Windows.

	****To Update Firmware from File Saved on Hard Disk Drive:

	1.  Download the file DVD079G.EXE into a folder on your Hard Disk Drive.

	2.  Boot the system into Safe Mode Command Prompt Only.  This can be done by 
	    pressing the F8 key when the message "Starting Windows 98..." appears.

	3.  At the C:\> type "DVD079G.EXE" (without " ") to extract the file

	4. The file will automatically extract the necessary 
	   firmware update files. 

	5. The following is the command needed to upgrade the 
	   firmware on a Solo 2500 only.

		T.bat [Enter]
 
	6. T.bat runs the command "fwmke20 079G.MOT MKEV2DVD".

	7. This makes the file 079G.MOT MKEV2DVD integrate into one 
	file

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
