Overview

These are the Windows XP audio drivers for the Solo 1450.


Identification

If you have a Solo 1450 and are running Windows XP, install these drivers.


Installation

1.  Download the file to the desktop.

2.  On your desktop, double-click the 7512347.exe file.  

3.  The files are extracted into the C:\Cabs\7512347 folder.

4.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.

5.  In Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance.

6.  In the Performance and Maintenance window, click System.

7.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

8.  In Device Manager, double-click Sound, video and game controllers, and then double-click ESS Allegro PCI Audio.

Note: If the sound drivers have not been installed, the sound device is listed under Other Devices as Multimedia Audio Controller.  Double-click it.

9.  In the device Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver.

10.  In the Welcome to the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), and then click Next.

11.  In the Please choose your search and installation options dialog box, the option Search for the best driver in these locations is selected by default.  Perform the following steps.

 a.  Clear the Search removable media (floppy, CD-ROM) check box.
 b.  Select Include this location in the search.
 c.  In the text box, type: C:\Cabs\7512347.
 d.  Click Next.

12.  In the Completing the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, click Finish.  

13.  In the ESS Allegro PCI Audio Properties dialog box, click Close.

14.  In the System Settings Change dialog box, to restart the computer, click Yes.

Note: If you are not prompted to restart the computer, close all windows and restart the computer to initialize the driver.

15.  After restarting, the audio driver installation is finished and the Device Manager window can be closed.


Removal

1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance.

3.  In the Performance and Maintenance window, click System.

4.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

5.  In Device Manager, double-click Sound, Video and Game Controllers, and then double-click ESS Allegro PCI Audio (WDM).

6.  In the ESS Allegro PCI Audio (WDM) Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Roll Back.

7.  When prompted if you are sure you would like to roll back to the previous driver, click Yes.

8.  In the ESS Allegro PCI Audio (WDM) Properties dialog box, click Close.

9.  Close Device Manager.


Troubleshooting

If you have problems during the installation, try reinstalling the driver again by following the installation steps listed above.  If the problem persists, try removing the driver and reinstalling it.


Reason for Update

This is the initial release of the drivers.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
