Overview

This document describes the steps necessary to install and configure the display drivers for the Solo 1200 portable computer in Windows XP.


Identification

If you have a Solo 1200 portable computer and are running Windows XP, install these display drivers.


Installation

1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, on the left side, click Switch to Classic View.

3.  Double-click the System icon.  

4.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab.

5.  On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.

6.  In Device Manager, click the plus sign (+) next to Display Adapters.

7.  Under Display Adapters, double-click Video Controller.

8.  In the Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab. 

9.  On the Driver tab, click Update Driver.

10.  In the Welcome to the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard dialog box,  click Install from a list or specific location (advanced), and then click Next.

11.  In the next Upgrade Device Driver Wizard dialog box, click Include this location in the search.  Type: C:\cabs\7511081.  Click Next.

12.  Files copy.  In the Completing the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard dialog box, click Finish.

13.  The S3 Graphics Inc. Twister driver is now installed.

14.  Close Device Manager, and then restart the computer. 

15.  When the computer restarts, in the Display Properties dialog box, set the correct resolution and colors, 1,024 x 768 resolution, and High Color 16-Bit.


Removal

1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.  In Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance.

2.  In the Performance and Maintenance window, click the System icon.

3.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

4.  In Device Manager, click the plus sign (+) next to Display Drivers, and then double-click S3 Graphics Inc Savage/IX.

5.  In the S3 Graphics Inc. Twister Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Uninstall.

6.  Close Device Manager.


Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulty during or after the driver installation, follow the removal procedure, and then re-install the drivers.
