BROM112.TXT Driver File Contents (7501483.exe)

WARNING:

ONLY LOAD THIS BIOS ON A "SOLO" P5-75, P5-90, P5-100, P5-120, OR P5-133.  
LOADING ON ANY OTHER SYSTEM WILL RUIN THE SYSTEM.

PLEASE FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS VERY CLOSELY!!!!!!

Instructions on updating:

*****************************************************************************************
Before beginning this operation please make sure the system is operating with
the AC power adapter plugged in.
*****************************************************************************************

1.) Power down the system and make sure the floppy drive is in the drive bay.

2.) Remove the hard drive from the system.

3.) Power the system up with your Gateway 2000 Solo boot disk or a bootable in the 
    floppy drive.

( You will receive a error stating "No Hard Disk Drive is installed. Install Hard
  Disk Drive or F3 to continue" )


4.) You will need to press F3 which will reboot the system. The system will then
    boot off the diskette in the A:\ drive.

5.) When the system reports "Starting MS-Dos" you will need to press the "F5" key
    to boot the system clean. This will put you to the A:\ prompt.

    (If you boot off a Windows 95 boot diskette you will need to press F8 when the 
     system reports "Starting Windows 95" and choose "Safe Mode Command Prompt only"
     from the Windows 95 menu.)

6.) You will then need to put the diskette with the BROM112.EXE file in the A:\ 
    drive and type "BROM112.EXE". This will give you the following message:

    "Flash-ROM Erasing....... Waiting"
    "Flash-ROM Writing....... Waiting"
    
    The system will then reboot and again give you the error " No Hard Disk Drive is 
    installed. Install Hard Disk Drive or F3 to continue"

7.) Press the F3 key to continue. The system will then reboot and if the diskette in
    the A:\ drive is not bootable you will receive a message stating "Non-System disk
    or disk error Replace and strike any key when ready".

8.) You will need to power the system down and install the hard drive.

***********   IF YOU HAVE A NEW HARD DRIVE PLEASE DO THE FOLLOWING:
*****************************************************************************************      
    
    A.) Boot the system off the Solo boot diskette.
    B.) Choose to load the operating system and follow the instructions given.
    C.) Once the hard drive is loaded you will need to boot off the Solo boot diskette
        and press "F5" when the system reports "Starting MS-Dos". This will put you to
        the A:\ prompt. 
    D.) You will then need to put the diskette with the file BIOS112.EXE in the A:\ 
        drive and type "BIOS112.EXE" and press enter. This will update the BIOS to 
        version 1.12 and will reboot your system. 
        You will receive a error stating "Non-System disk or disk error Replace and strike 
        any key when ready". You will need to take the diskette out of the A:\ drive 
        and press a key.

***********   IF YOU HAVE A HARD DRIVE THAT IS ALREADY LOADED DO THE FOLLOWING:
*********************************************************************************************
    A.) Boot the system off the Solo boot diskette and press the "F5" key when the system
        reports "Starting MS-Dos" This will put you to the A:\ prompt.
    B.) You will then need to put the diskette with the file BIOS112.EXE in the A:\ 
        drive and type "BIOS112.EXE" and press enter. This will update the BIOS to 
        version 1.12 and will reboot your system. 
        You will receive a error stating "Non-System disk or disk error Replace and strike 
        any key when ready". You will need to take the diskette out of the A:\ drive 
        and press a key. 

Your system should now be updated to BIOS version 1.12!!!!!!

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
