Overview

This document describes the steps necessary to install and configure the modem drivers for the Solo 1200 portable computer in Windows XP.


Identification

If you have a Solo 1200 portable computer and are running Windows XP, install these drivers.


Installation

1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, on the left side, click Switch to Classic View. 

3.  Double-click the System icon.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab.

4.  On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.

5.  In Device Manager, click the plus sign (+) next to Other Devices.

6.  Double-click PCI Simple Communications Controller.

7.  Click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver.

8.  In the Welcome to the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard dialog box, select Install from a list or specific location (advanced), and then click Next.

9.  Select Include this location in the search.

10.  Type: c:\cabs\7512150.  Click Next.

11.  The 56K AC-Link Modem is identified.  Files copy.

12.  In the Completing the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard dialog box, click Finish.

13.  The driver is now installed.  Close Device Manager. 


Removal

1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, double-click the System icon.

3.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab.

4.  On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.

5.  In Device Manager tab, click the plus sign (+) next to Modem.

6.  Double-click 56k AC-Link Modem, and then click the Driver tab.

7.  On the Driver tab, click Uninstall.

8.  Close Device Manger. 


Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulty during or after the driver installation, follow the removal procedure, and then re-install the drivers.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
