Overview

These drivers only install and function correctly on a Solo 1150 computer with a chassis part number of 3500730, 3500742, 3500866, 3500867, 3500967, 3500968, 3501047, 3501051, 3501095, or 3501096. To identify your computer model, on the bottom of the computer, look for a sticker with a number starting with 350. Verify that the number matches one of the required numbers to be certain that this update is vaild for your computer. There are only two reasons to perform this BIOS flash.

1. You are updating to a newer BIOS revision.

2. A Gateway technician has told you to flash or reflash the computer.

Identification

To identify your computer model, check the bottom of the computer. The model type reads as Gateway Model no. 1150.

Installation

Follow these steps to flash or reflash the computer:

Download BIOS 21.09 part number 7511111, and then double-click the 7511111.exe file to extract the BIOS files. The default download path is C:\cabs\7511111.

1. Copy the BIOS files to a floppy disk.

2. Verify that the computer is plugged into the alternating current (AC) adapter.

3. Boot clean to the hard disk drive using the floppy disk.

4. Type: 7511111.exe, and then press ENTER to start the BIOS flash process.

Note: The program attempts to detect the computer type and install the appropriate BIOS. After the BIOS has been installed, the computer shuts down or restarts.

5. When the computer restarts, press the F2 key to enter the BIOS Setup Utility. The message,"CMOS CHECKSUM INVALID, DEFAULT VALUES WILL BE LOADED," is likely to occur.

6. Verify that any previously customized BIOS Setup Utility settings are intact.

7. On the Exit menu screen, select Save Changes & Exit. Press ENTER, and then press ENTER again.

8. The computer restarts. From the floppy disk drive, remove the floppy disk.

Troubleshooting

If you have difficulties installing this BIOS, download the file again, and repeat the installation steps.

*** How do I extract or copy files to a floppy disk? ***

Extract the files to a floppy disk by copying the dowloaded BIOS file to a blank, formatted disk. After the file has been copied to the floppy, extract the files by typing the .exe file name, and then press ENTER.
OR
If the extracted files have already been copied to a directory on the hard disk, copy them to a blank disk.

This BIOS was released for higher CPU support.
