Overview

This document describes the steps necessary to install the Actiontec Wireless NIC driver for the Gateway M305CRV notebook computer in Windows XP or Windows 2000.


Identification

If you have a Gateway M305CRV notebook computer and are running Windows XP or Windows 2000, install these drivers.


Installation

1.  From the Start menu, click Run.

2.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\9524173\rtl8180_v2_20.exe.  Click OK.

3.  In the Installshield Wizard dialog box, click Next.

4.  In the License Agreement dialog box, click Yes.

5.  Files copy. 

5.  In the InstallShield Wizard Complete dialog box, click Finish.


Removal

1.  In Windows XP, from the Start menu, click Control Panel.  In Windows 2000, form the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs.

3.  In the Add or Remove Programs window, click RTl8180, and then click Change/Remove. 

4.  In the Confirm Removal dialog box, click OK. 

5.  Close all open Windows.


Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulty during or after the driver installation, follow the removal procedure, and then re-install the drivers.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
