Overview

This document describes the steps necessary to install card reader drivers for the Gateway M275 in Windows XP.


Identification

If you have a Gateway M275 portable computer and are running Windows XP install these drivers.


Installation

1.  The files are extracted to C:\Cabs\9524564. 

2.  From the Start menu, point to Programs, Accessories, and then click Windows Explorer.

3.  In Windows Explorer, in the C:\Cabs\9524564 folder, double-click Setup.exe.

4.  In the RICOH Media Driver box, click Next.

5.  On the Ready to Install box, click Install.

6.  Click Finish.  


Removal

1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, click the System icon.

3.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab.

4.  On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.

5.  In Device Manager, click IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, and then double-click Ricoh SD/MMC Controller.

6.  In the Ricoh SD/MMC Controller Properties dialog box, click the Drivers tab, and then click Uninstall.

7.  Click OK, and close Device Manager. 


Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulty during or after the driver installation, follow the removal procedure, and then reinstall the drivers.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
