Overview

This document describes the steps necessary to install and configure the Windows XP Gateway PRO/Wireless 2915ABG wireless network card driver version 9.0.1.21 for the Gateway notebook computer models listed in the Applicable Part Numbers section below.  


Identification

If you have a Gateway notebook computer listed in the Applicable Part Numbers section with a Gateway PRO/Wireless 2915ABG wireless solution and are running Windows XP, install these drivers.  To determine if you have a Gateway PRO/Wireless 2915ABG wireless solution, follow these steps:

1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance.

3.  In Performance and Maintenance, click System.

4.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

5.  In Device Manager, double-click Network adapters.

6.  Under the Network adapters category, if Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2915ABG is listed, this is the correct driver.


Installation

1.  Download the file to the desktop.

2.  On the desktop, double-click the D00359-001-001.exe file.  The needed files extract to the C:\Cabs\D00359-001-001 folder.

3.  From the Start menu, click Run.

4.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\D00359-001-001\Autorun.exe.  Click OK.

5.  In the Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Installer dialog box, click Install Software.

6.  In the Intel Software License Agreement dialog box, click to select the I accept the terms in the license agreement check box, and then click Next.

7.  In the next dialog box, verify that Typical is selected, and then click Next.

8.  In the Install default components dialog box, click OK.

9.  Files copy.

10.  Installation is complete.  In the Intel(R)PRO Installer dialog box, click OK to restart the computer. 


Removal

1.  Open Control Panel. 

If you are using the Windows XP default Start menu, from the Start menu, click Control Panel. 
If you are using the Classic Start Menu, from the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. 

2.  In Control Panel, open Add or Remove Programs. 

If you are in Category View, click Add or Remove Programs. 
If you are in Classic View, double-click Add or Remove Programs. 

3.  In the Add or Remove Programs window, click Intel(R)PROSet/Wireless Software, and then click Remove.

4.  In the Intel(R)PROSet/Wireless Installer dialog box, click Remove, and then click Next.

5.  In the next dialog box, click OK.

6.  Files remove.

7.  Removal is complete.  In the Intel(R)PRO Installer dialog box, click OK to restart the computer.

This is the initial driver.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
