Overview

This file contains the Windows XP tablet OS network drivers for Gateway notebook computers listed in the Applicable Part Numbers section below.


Identification

If you have a Gateway notebook computer listed below and are running Windows XP Tablet OS, install these drivers.


Installation

Download the driver file to the desktop, and then perform the following steps.

1.  If you have not already done so, locate and double-click the D00459-002-001.exe file that you downloaded from the Internet and execute the file.  The files extract to the C:\Cabs\D00459-002-001 folder.

2.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel. 

3.  In Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance.

4.  In Performance and Maintenance, click the System icon.

5.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

6.  In Device Manager, double-click Other Devices, and then double-click Ethernet Controller.

7.  In the Ethernet Controller Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click update driver.

8.  In the Welcome dialog box, click the Install from a list or specific location box, and then click Next.

9.  Click Include this location in the search, and then enter the path C:\Cabs\D00459-002-001.  Click Next.

10.  Click Finish.


Removal

1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel. 

2.  In Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance.

3.  In Performance and Maintenance, click the System icon.

4.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

5.  In Device Manager, double-click Network Adapters, and then double-click Broadcom NetExtreme Gigibit Ethernet Integrated Controller.

6.  In the Broadcom NetExtreme Gigibit Ethernet Controller Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Uninstall.

7.  In the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK.

8.  In the System Settings Change window, click Yes to restart your computer.


Troubleshooting

If you are having problems with your driver, reinstall it by following the installation steps listed in this document.  If the problem persists, remove the driver using the steps in the Removal section of this document, and then reinstall it.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
