Overview  

This document describes the steps necessary to install the AV Manager software for the Gateway M505 in Windows XP.  The AV Manager software provides support for the AV Control Panel on the left side of the Gateway M505.


Identification  

If you have a Gateway M505 notebook computer and are running Windows XP, install this software.  To determine which version of software you have, follow these steps:

1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel. 

2.  In Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs.

3.  In the Add or Remove Programs window, select AV Manager.  AV Manager should list the version number right after it.  For example if it lists AV Manager V1.1.0.4, version 1.1.0.4 is installed.  If AV Manager is not listed in the Add or Remove Programs window, you do not have it installed.


Installation

After you have downloaded and double-clicked the file (9526112.exe), files self-extract and copy into the C:\Cabs\9526112 folder on the hard drive.

1.  From the Start menu, click Run. 

2.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\9526112\Setup.exe.  Click OK.

3.  In the Welcome dialog box, click Next.

4.  Files copy.

5.  In the InstallShield Wizard Complete dialog box, click Finish.


Removal

1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel. 

2.  In Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs.

3.  In the Add or Remove Programs window, select AV Manager, and then click Change/Remove.

4.  In the Confirm Uninstall dialog box, click OK.

5.  In the Maintenance Complete dialog box, click Finish.


Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulty during or after the software installation, follow the removal procedure, and then re-install the software.  


Reason for Update

Fixed the following: Audio intermittently becomes jerky when adjusting volume, AV control panel buttons have a delayed response when pressed, cannot eject disc by pressing the "stop" button on AV Panel with Media Player 9, WinDVD does not play the movie automatically after pressing the "play" button with the AV Manager patch installed.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
