Overview

This is the audio driver for the integrated Realtek chipset for the 310 Series computer (Thrasher motherboard).  


Identification

Use the following steps to confirm that this is the correct graphics driver update for your desktop computer.

If the computer is turned off:

1.  Turn on the computer.  On your keyboard, repeatedly press the F2 key to enter the BIOS Setup Utility.

2.  In the BIOS Setup Utility, on the Main tab, look for the BIOS version line.  The version number should display like the following: SR84511A.xxx.xxxx.Pxx (where x is variable characters).  The BIOS prefix SR84511A is constant and specifically identifies the correct motherboard.  

3.  If this is correct, this is the correct graphics driver for your computer.  Press the F10 key to exit the BIOS Setup Utility.

If the computer is turned on and in Windows:

1.  From the Start menu, click Shut Down.  In the Shut Down Windows dialog box, select Restart, and then click Yes.

2.  As soon as the computer restarts, on your keyboard, repeatedly press the F2 key to enter the BIOS Setup Utility.

3.  In the BIOS Setup Utility, on the Main tab, look for the BIOS version line.  The version number should display like the following: SR84511A.xxx.xxxx.Pxx (where x is variable characters).  The BIOS prefix SR84511A is constant and specifically identifies the correct motherboard.  

4.  If this is correct, this is the correct graphics driver for your motherboard.  Press the F10 key to exit the BIOS Setup Utility.


Installation

1.  From the Start menu, click Run.

2.  In the Run dialog box, type the path and location of the file 9523937.exe (Example: C:\Cabs\9523937.exe).  Click OK.  The files extract to the C:\Cabs\9523937 directory.

3.  From the Start menu, click Run.

4.  In the Run dialog box, type the path for the Extreme Graphics driver setup file.  Unless directed elsewhere, the drivers should be located at C:\Cabs\9523937\Setup.exe.  Click OK.

5.  In the Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for Realtek AC97 Audio dialog box, click Next. 

6.  In the InstallShield Wizard Complete dialog box, select Yes, I want to restart my computer now, and then click Finish.

7.  The computer restarts automatically and the updated audio drivers are installed and initialized.


Removal

1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs.

3.  In the Add or Remove Programs window, select Realtek AC97 Audio, and then click Change/Remove.

4.  In the Maintenance Complete dialog box, select Yes, I want to restart my computer now, and then click Finish. 


Troubleshooting

If you have difficulty installing the new driver, download the file again, and then perform the installation steps.


Reason for Update

This is the initial driver qualified for integrated audio for the 310 Series computer (Thrasher motherboard).

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
