Overview

This is the basic Gateway OEM Microsoft Windows XP Media Center driver for the Gateway Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II TV tuner card.
 

Identification

1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, click the Performance and Maintenance icon. 

3.  In the Performance and Maintenance window, click the System icon. 

4.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

5.  In Device Manager, double-click Sound, video and game controllers.  

6.  If Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II is listed under Sound, video and game controllers, this is the correct driver.

Note: If Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II is listed under Other devices, review your computer invoice to verify the part number.
 

Installation

Download the Hauppvr23053.exe file to the desktop, and then perform the following steps. 

1.  On the desktop, double-click the Hauppvr23053.exe file.

2.  In the Win-Zip Self Extractor dialog box, to expand the files to C:\Cabs\Hauppvr23053, click Unzip.

3.  In the Win-Zip dialog box, click OK.

4.  Close all open programs.

5.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.  

6.  In Control Panel, click the Performance and Maintenance icon.  

7.  In the Performance and Maintenance window, click the System icon. 

8.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

9. In Device Manager, double-click Other Devices if the driver has not been installed previously or click Sound, Video and  
Game Controllers if the driver has been installed.

Note: The Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Tuner may be listed as PCI Multimedia Device in Other Devices if the driver has not been installed previously.  If the driver has already been installed, the Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Tuner will be listed as Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II in the Sound, Video and Game Controllers category.

10.  Double-click on the appropriate device selected (PCI Multimedia Controller or Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II.

11.  In the Device Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver.

12.  In the Update Options Wizard click No, not this time, and click next.

13.  In the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, click Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), and then click  
Next.

14.  In the next dialog box, perform the following steps.

 a.  Click to clear the Search removable media (Floppy, CD-ROM) check box.
 b.  Select the Include this location in the search check box.
 c.  In the text box, type: C:\Cabs\Hauppvr23053.
 d.  Click Next.

14.  Files copy.

15.  In the Add New Hardware Wizard dialog box, click Finish.  

16.  Close all open dialog boxes.

17.  When prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.


Removal

The drivers can only be removed under the Drivers tab for the Device Properties in the Device Manager.  The drivers are automatically reinstalled upon restarting the computer or executing the scan for devices in the Device Manager.  These drivers are required for Media Center functionality.  Removal of the drivers is not recommended.


Troubleshooting

If you have difficulty installing the new driver, download the file again, and then perform the installation steps.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
