Overview 

This is the Windows XP SATA RAID driver for the computers listed in the Applicable Part Numbers section of this document. 


Installation 

1. Start Windows Setup from the Windows CD.

2. Press the F6 key when the screen displays: "Press F6 if you need..."

3. Press the S key to specify an additional device when the screen displays: "Setup could not determine the type of one or more mass storage devices..."

4. From the list of drivers, select "Intel(R) 82801GR/GH SATA RAID Controller (Desktop ICH7R/DH)".  Press ENTER.

5. Press ENTER, and then continue with the normal installation procedure.


Removal 

This driver provides proper functionality of multiple system devices; therefore removal instructions for this driver and related files are not provided. 


Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulty during or after the driver installation, download the file again, and then perform the installation steps for a second time.


Reason for Update 

This is the initial release of the driver.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
