Overview

This document describes the steps necessary to upgrade to NIC firmware version 5787Ac3.23 for the ECS nBTX motherboard.

Identification

This NIC firmware can be installed on a ECS nBTX motherboard, part number 4006183R.

Installation

The NIC firmware should be flashed if:

1. You are updating to a newer NIC firmware revision.

2. A technician has told you to flash or re-flash the computer.

Note: Please verify the CD burner software that you have on your computer before using the bootable CD options below.

Steps to flash or re-flash the computer using a CD burner drive:

1. Use your burning software to Burn Disc Image of the C:\Cabs\ECSNICFIRM\ECSNICFIRM.ISO file to a blank CD.

2. After creating the bootable CD, place the CD in the CD/DVD drive, and then restart the computer.

3. At the Menu, select 1 for firmware version 5787Ac3.23. The BIOS flash process runs automatically. Do not press any keys or turn off the computer during this process.

4. When the flash is complete it will run a test to verify the card.

Steps to flash or re-flash the computer using a floppy disk drive or bootable USB flash drive:

1. Copy all of the BIOS files except ECSNICFIRM.ISO from the C:\Cabs\ECSNICFIRM folder to a blank floppy disk or a USB flash drive.

2. Restart the computer with the floppy disk inserted/USB flash drive plugged in.

3. At the menu, select 1 for firmware version 5787Ac3.23. The firmware flash process runs automatically. Do not press any keys or turn off the computer during this process.

Removal

Because a computer must have a BIOS to operate, there is no removal process. The firmware cannot be removed after it has been upgraded.

Troubleshooting

If you have trouble flashing the firmware, try the process again following the steps listed in the Installation section of this document. If you are still unable to flash the BIOS, verify that you are actually attempting to flash the NIC firmware on an ECS nBTX motherboard. If this process still fails, contact technical support.

Reason for Update

This firmware fixes an issue with the inability to save changes to Broadcom NIC settings.
