Overview

This document contains information about installing the Gateway(r) NVIDIA GeForce AGP Graphics Card Windows XP and Windows 2000 driver version 30.82.  The driver is certified with Microsoft WHQL.

Installation

Windows XP

1.  Close all open windows, except this readme.txt file if instructions are needed.

2.  If not already done, locate and double-click the 7513087.exe file that you downloaded from the Internet.  This file should be located on your desktop.

3.  The needed files are extracted to the C:\Cabs\7513087 folder.

4.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel. 
 
5.  In Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance.

6.  In Performance and Maintenance, click the System icon. 
 
7.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

8.  In Device Manager, double-click Display adapters, and then double-click the listed NVIDIA device.

9.  In the NVIDIA Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver.

10.  In the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, select Install from a list or Specific Location (Advanced), and then click Next.

11.  In the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, select Don't search I will choose the driver to install, and then click Next.

12.  In the next dialog box, click Have Disk.

13.  In the Install From Disk dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\7513087.  Click OK.

14.  In the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, the NVIDIA driver is listed.  Refer to the Identification section for specific designations.  Click Next.

15.  Files copy.

16.  When complete, click Finish.


Windows 2000

1.  Close all open windows, except this readme.txt file if instructions are needed.

2.  If not already done, locate and double-click the 7513087.exe file that you originally downloaded from the Internet. This file should be located on your desktop.

3.  Files are extracted to the C:\Cabs\7513087 folder.

4.  From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

5.  In Control Panel, double-click the System icon.

6.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

7.  In Device Manager, double-click Display adapters, and then double-click the listed NVIDIA device.

8.  In the NVIDIA Properties dialog box, click the Drivers tab, and then click Update Driver.

9.  In the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, select Install from a list or Specific Location (Advanced), and then click Next.

10.  In the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, select Don't search I will choose the driver to install, and then click Next.

11.  In the next dialog box, click Have Disk.

12.  In the Install From Disk dialog box, type: C:\cabs\7513087.  Click OK.

13.  In the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, the NVIDIA driver is listed.  Refer to the Identification section for specific designations.  Click Next.

14.  Files copy.

15.  When complete, click Finish.


Removal

1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.  

2.  In Control Panel, double-click the Add or Remove Programs icon.

3.  In the Add or Remove Programs window, select the NVIDIA Windows 2000/XP display driver, and then click Change/Remove.

4.  In the NVIDIA Uninstall dialog box, click Yes.

5.  When prompted to restart the computer, click OK.


Troubleshooting

If you have difficulty during or after the driver installation, perform the following troubleshooting steps. 

1.  Verify that all cables are securely connected.  

2.  Follow the removal procedure, and then follow the installation instructions.


Reason for Update

To update the video card to the latest Gateway supported driver.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
