Overview

This is the initial Intel Extreme Graphics driver for the Intel 865G (Midway and Midway Plus motherboards) chipset.  


Identification

Use the following steps to confirm that this is the correct graphics driver update for your desktop computer.

If the computer is turned off:

1.  Turn on the computer.  On your keyboard, repeatedly press the F1 key to enter the BIOS Setup Utility.

2.  In the BIOS Setup Utility, on the Main tab, look for the BIOS version line.  The version needs to read BF86510A.xxx.xxxx.Pxx (where x is variable characters).  The BIOS prefix BF86510A is constant and specifically identifies the correct motherboard.

3.  If this is correct, this is the correct graphics driver for your computer.  To exit the BIOS Setup Utility, press the F10 key.

If the computer is turned on and in Windows:

1.  From the Start menu, click Shut Down.  In the Shut Down Windows dialog box, select Restart, and then click Yes.

2.  As soon as the computer restarts, on your keyboard, repeatedly press the F1 key to enter the BIOS Setup Utility.

3.  In the BIOS Setup Utility, on the Main tab, look for the BIOS version line.  The version needs to read BF86510A.xxx.xxxx.Pxx (where x is variable characters).  The BIOS prefix BF86510A is constant and specifically identifies the correct motherboard.

4.  If this is correct, this is the correct graphics driver for your motherboard.  To exit the BIOS Setup Utility, press the F10 key.


Installation

Windows XP and Windows 2000

1.  From the Start menu, click Run.

2.  In the Run dialog box, in the Open text box, type the path and location of the 9521985.exe file, for example,  C:\Cabs\9521985.exe.  Click OK.  The files are extracted to the C:\Cabs\9521985 folder. 

3.  From the Start menu, click Run.

4.  In the Run dialog box, in the Open text box, type the path for the Extreme Graphics driver setup file.  Unless directed elsewhere, the drivers are located at C:\Cabs\9521985\Setup.exe.

5.  In the Welcome to the InstallShield(r) Wizard for Intel(r) Extreme Graphics Driver dialog box, click Next. 

6.  In the License Agreement dialog box, click Yes.

7.  In the InstallShield(r) Wizard Complete dialog box, select Yes, I want to restart my computer now.  Click Finish.
 
8.  The computer restarts automatically.  The updated video drivers are installed and initialized.  


Removal

Windows XP

1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, click Appearance and Themes.

3.  In the Appearance and Themes window, click Display.

4.  In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab.

5.  On the Settings tab, click Advanced.

6.  In the Monitor and Intel(r) 82865G Graphics Controller dialog box, click the Adapter tab.

7.  On the Adapter tab, click Properties.

8.  In the Intel(r) 82865G Graphics Controller Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab.

9.  On the Driver tab, click Uninstall.

10.  In the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK.

11.  In the System Settings Change dialog box, click Yes.

12.  The removal procedure is completed.  The computer restarts.

Note:  The operating system automatically reinstalls the drivers upon re-entry into Windows. 


Windows 2000

1.  From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, double-click the Display icon.

3.  In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab.

4.  On the Settings tab, click Advanced.

5.  In the Monitor and Intel(r) 82865G Graphics Controller dialog box, click the Adapter tab.

6.  On the Adapter tab, click Properties.

7.  In the Intel(r) 82865G Graphics Controller Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab.

8.  On the Driver tab, click Uninstall.

9.  In the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK.

10.  In the System Settings Change dialog box, click Yes.

11.  The removal procedure is completed.  The computer restarts.

Troubleshooting

If you have difficulty installing the new driver, download the file again, and then perform the installation steps.


Reason for Update

This is the initial driver qualified for the 500 Series (Midway and Midway Plus motherboards) computers.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
