This is needed for proper functionality of the following features: Core PCI and ISAPNP Services AGP Support IDE/ATA33/ATA66/ATA100 Storage Support USB Support Identification of Intel Chipset Components in Device Manager Identification The software included with this distribution package is designed to operate with the following chipset configurations: Intel 82865G/PE/P Intel 82875P One of the following operating systems must be installed on the system: Windows 98 SE 4.10.2222 (original release) Windows Me 4.90.3000 (original release) Windows 2000 5.00.2195 (original release) Windows XP 5.10.2600 (original release) The version of the software installed can be identified by examining the following registry location: Key name: \\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Intel\InfInst Value name: Version Installation The 9521986.exe file is a self-extracting file that creates a folder on drive C titled C:\Cabs\9521986 and extracts files into that folder. 1. From the Start menu, click Run. 2. In the Run dialog box, in the Open text box, type the path and location of the 9521986.exe file, for example, C:\Cabs\9521986.exe. Click OK. The files are extracted in the C:\Cabs\9521986 folder. 3. From the Start menu, click Run. 4. In the Run dialog box, in the Open text box, type: C:\Cabs\9521986\Setup.exe. Click OK. 5. In the Setup dialog box, click Next. 6. In the Software License Agreement dialog box, to accept the terms of the license agreement, click Yes. 7. In the Readme Information dialog box, click Next. 8. In the Setup Complete dialog box, select Yes, I want to restart my computer now, and then click Finish. 9. When the computer initializes Windows, new hardware is found, and the new drivers are automatically installed. The installation is then complete. Removal The Intel INF Installation Utility provides installation information needed for proper functionality of multiple system devices for the operating systems identified. Therefore, removal instructions for the Intel INF Installation Utility and related files are not provided. Troubleshooting If you have difficulties installing this update, download the file again, and then verify that all instructions in this document are followed. Reason for Update This is the initial Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility qualified for the Intel 82875P (Gateway Wasp motherboard) chipset for Windows 2000 and Windows XP. This driver set includes support for Windows 98SE and Windows Me, but these operating systems are not supported by Gateway. These drivers were provided to Gateway by the software publisher and have not been tested by Gateway for all applicable operating systems. The drivers may not be compatible with your software. Please contact the software publisher for more information. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
