Identification If you have a Gateway 400VTX with a memory card reader, upgrade to this firmware. Installation Note: If you are running Windows 2000, the memory card reader driver must be driver version 4.0.13.317. Note: Prior to flashing the firmware, remove all USB devices attached to the computer and ensure that the computer is running on AC power. Download the firmware file to the desktop, and then perform the following steps. 1. Extract the file by double-clicking the 9526846.exe file. 2. Browse to the C:\Cabs\9526846 folder, and then click Setup.exe. 3. In the Welcome dialog box, click Next. 4. Click Finish to restart the computer. 5. Once the computer is back to the desktop, double-click the Flash Updater Icon. 6. Check the current firmware version by clicking the F/W version button. Only flash the firmware if you current firmware version is 20021209ver-XII. 7. Click to select firmware 0801, and then click Download. 8. When complete, click the F/W version button to confirm that the new firmware version is 1.06.40.0801II. Removal There is no removal process, as the firmware is a needed driver for the memory card reader to operate. Troubleshooting If you have trouble flashing the firmware, try the process again, following the steps listed in the Installation section of this document. If you are still unable to flash the firmware, verify that you are attempting to flash the firmware on a Gateway 400VTX notebook computer and not on any other computer. If this process still fails, contact technical support. Reason for Update The firmware update is to correct an issue where the Gateway 400VTX notebook stops responding when trying to read memory cards. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
