Overview

This document describes the steps necessary to install and configure the display drivers for the Gateway 400VTX in Windows XP and Windows 2000.


Identification

If you have a Gateway 400VTX and are running Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 2000, install these drivers.


Installation

The files are extracted to the C:\Cabs\9522342 folder on your hard drive.

Automated Install in Windows XP or Windows 2000:

1.  From the Start menu, click Run.

2.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\9522342\Setup.exe.  Click OK.

3.  In the Welcome to InstallShield dialog box, click Next.

4.  In the License Agreement dialog box, click Yes to accept the terms of the license agreement.

5.  Files copy.

6.  In the InstallShield Wizard Complete dialog box, click Finish.

7.  The computer restarts, and the installation is complete.

Manual Installation in Windows 2000:

1.  From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, double-click the Display icon.

3.  In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab, and then click Advanced.

4.  In the Plug and Play Monitor and Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller Properties dialog box, click the Adapter tab, and then click Properties.

5.  In the Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver.

6.  In the Welcome to the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard dialog box, click Next.

7.  In the Install Hardware Device Drivers dialog box, select Search for a suitable driver for my device, and then click Next.

8.  In the Locate Driver Files dialog box, verify that only Specify a Location is selected, and then click Next.

9.  In the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\9522342\Win2000.  Click OK.

10.  In the Driver Files Search Results dialog box, click Next.

11.  Files copy.

12.  In the Completing the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard dialog box, click Finish. 

13.  In the Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller Properties dialog box, click Close.

14.  In the System Settings Change dialog box, to restart the computer, click Yes.

15.  After restarting, in the Display Properties dialog box, on the Settings tab, make any needed adjustments to the desired color depth and resolution.


Removal

Windows XP

1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel. 

2.  In Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs.

3.  In the Add or Remove Programs window, select Intel(r) Extreme Graphics Driver, and then click Remove.

4.  In the Systems Settings Change dialog box, click Yes to restart the computer.


Windows 2000

1.  From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. 

2.  In Control Panel, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.

3.  In the Add/Remove Programs window, select Intel(r) Extreme Graphics Driver, and then click Remove.

4.  In the Systems Settings Change dialog box, click Yes to restart the computer.


Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulty during or after the driver installation, follow the removal procedure, and then re-install the  
drivers.

This is the initial driver.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
