Overview

This document describes the steps necessary to install and configure the Memory Card Reader driver for the Gateway 450ROG in Windows XP.


Identification

If you have a Gateway 450ROG portable computer and are running Windows XP, install these drivers.


Installation

1.  In the C:\Cabs\9520526 folder, double-click Setup.exe to begin the installation. 

2.  In the Welcome dialog box, click Next.

3.  In the Setup Complete dialog box, click Finish.  The computer restarts.


Removal

1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance.

3.  In Performance and Maintenance, click the System icon.

4.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

5.  In Device Manager, double-click Disk Drives, and then double-click USB 2.0 CardReader CF RW USB Device.

6.  In the USB 2.0 CardReader CF RW USB Device Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Uninstall.

7.  Click Close.

8.  Close Device Manager.


Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulty during or after the driver installation, follow the removal procedure, and then re-install the drivers.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
