Overview

This document describes the steps necessary to install the GTW V.92 Voice Modem drivers for the Gateway 400 in Windows XP.


Identification

If you have a Gateway 400 portable computer and are running Windows XP, install these drivers.


Installation

1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance.

3.  In Performance and Maintenance, click the System icon.

4.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

5.  In Device Manager, click the plus sign (+) next to Other devices, and then double-click PCI Modem.

6.  In the PCI Modem Properties box, click Reinstall driver.

7.  Select Install from a list of specific location, and then click Next.

8.  In the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, click Next.

9.  Click to clear the Search removable media check box, and then select the Include this location in the search check box. 

10.  In the text box, type: C:\cabs\7512897.  Click Next.

11.  Click Finish.

12.  In the GTW V.92 Voicemodem Properties dialog box, click Close.

13.  Close Device Manager.


Removal

1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance.

3.  In Performance and Maintenance, click the System icon.

4.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

5.  In Device Manager, click the plus sign (+) next to Modems, and then double-click GTW V.92 Voicemodem

6.  In the GTW V.92 Voicemodem Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab.

7.  On the Driver tab, click Uninstall.

8.  In the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK.

9.  Close Device Manager.


Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulty during or after the driver installation, follow the removal procedure and then re-install the drivers.

This is the initial release of these drivers.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
