template.ini Driver File Contents (9526082.exe)

All existing .INIs need to be verified based upon the new template data Stan sent out. It appears that many or most of them are wrong.

From Stan's note:

The "default" configuration settings (applied to everybody who doesn't request any custom settings) in the production inf-files are pretty minimal for 3000 and can be disregarded. For 4000, since we promote it as a "digital" driver, EmulateAllMasters=1 is required, plus some DisableXxx settings disabling various analog inputs:

[HKR\Settings]

EmulateAllMasters   =hex: 1

DisablePCBeep       =hex: 1
DisablePhone        =hex: 1

DisableAux          =hex: 1
DisableLineInFromPlayback =hex: 1 ; but leaves it at the recording MUX
DisableMicFromPlayback =hex: 1 ; but leaves it at the recording MUX
Disable3DControl            =hex: 1
DisableMICSelect =hex: 1 ; Disable Alternate Mic checkbox

PCBeepMute          =hex: 1

A few other .ini issues of concern:

1) HKR EmulateAllMasters should be set to binary 01 in all 40XX ini’s. Beter yet, maybe this setting and certain others should be generally configured by the 40XX Stac97.ini.

2) The JackSense registry key “DigitalModel” should always be specified and set to Dword:1 in harmony w/ the driver setting EmulateAllMasters (binary) 01

3) HKR *_R64 (etc.) settings *cannot* be carried-over from an arbitrary, model-.ini. These are system specific, hardware-dependant settings that configure a system to a known initial state, independent of StacApp/StacSrv.

4) The HKR driver setting EnableExtAmpControl should be set to (binary) 00 or, better yet, excluded from .ini’s for models that implement either SPDIF-in, or StacSrv control of EAPD during JackSense cycles. This setting, enabled in several .ini’s I looked at, stands to cause a direct resource conflict, as it surely arbitrates codec R74’s state.

From Vitaliy's note:

1) HKR DigitalMasterControlsAnalog set to 01 can be used along with EmulateAllMasters set to 01. This will allow to enable required analog sources and make Master Volume slider to affect them too. ( Needs testing !!! )

2) HKR EnableLinearVolumes can be used to make the volume curve linear. This affects all analog controls exposed by the driver. ( Needs testing !!! )

3) HKR EnableSPDIFIn creates analog source ( Video In volume register )

4) HKR BiosInterfaceAddress is DWORD type (0x00010001) value and provides BIOS interface physical memory addres on systems that implement Sigmatel BIOS specification (for example on Piranha we have HKR,%CfKyNm%,BiosInterfaceAddress, 0x00010001, 0x4e8)

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
