Identification If you have a Gateway notebook computer listed below and are running either Windows XP or Windows 2000, install this driver. Installation After you have downloaded and double-clicked the file (9526847.exe), files self-extract and copy into the C:\Cabs\9526847 folder on the hard drive. 1. From the Start menu, click Run. 2. In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\9526847\Setup.exe. Click OK. 3. In the Welcome dialog box, click Next. 4. In the Important Information dialog box, click Next. 5. In the Start Copying Files dialog box, click Next. 6. Files copy. 7. Click Finish to restart the computer. Removal Windows XP 1. From the Start menu, click Control Panel. 2. In Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs. 3. In the Add or Remove Programs window, select Synaptics Pointing Device Driver, and then click Change/Remove. 4. In the next dialog box, click OK. 5. In the final dialog box, click OK. Windows 2000 1. From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. 2. In Control Panel, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon. 3. In the Add/Remove Programs window, select Synaptics Pointing Device Driver, and then click Change/Remove. 4. In the next dialog box, click OK. 5. In the final dialog box, click OK. Troubleshooting If you are having difficulty during or after the driver installation, follow the removal procedure, and then re-install the drivers. If the touchpad stops working after removing the driver, restart the computer. Reason for Update This is the initial driver. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
