Overview

This document describes the steps necessary to install and configure the Multi-Function Keyboard drivers for the Gateway(r) 600 in Microsoft(r) Windows(r) 98, Windows(r) XP, and Windows (r) 2000.

Identification

If you have a Gateway 600 portable computer and are running Windows(r) 98, Windows(r) XP, or Windows(r) 2000, install these drivers.

Installation

1.  The files are extracted to C:\cabs\7512371. 

2.  In Windows(r) 98, on the Start menu, point to Programs, and then click Windows Explorer.
    In Windows(r) 2000 or Windows(r) XP, on the Start menu, point to Programs, Accessories, and then click Windows Explorer.

3.  In Windows Explorer, in the C:\cabs\7512371 folder, double-click Setup65.exe.

4.  At the prompt to install the Multi-Function Keyboard, click Yes.

5.  Files copy.

6.  In the Welcome dialog box, click Next.

7.  In the Readme Information dialog box, click Next.

8.  In the Setup Complete dialog box, click finish.


Removal

1.  On the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.

3.  In the Add/Remove Programs window, select the Gateway Multi-Function Keyboard, and then click Change/Remove.
 
4.  In the Gateway Multi-Function Keyboard dialog box, click Yes.

5.  When prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.

6.  The computer restarts.


Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulty during or after the driver installation, follow the removal procedure and then re-install the drivers.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
