Installation After you have downloaded and double-clicked the file D20109-001-001, files self-extract and copy into the C:\Cabs\D20109-001-001 folder on the hard drive. Installation Windows XP: 1. The necessary files extract to the C:\Cabs folder and create a sub-folder using the name of the driver part number. 2. From the Start menu, click Run. In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\D20109-001-001\Setup.exe. Click OK. 3. Follow all on screen instructions to complete the installation. Windows Vista: 1. From the Start menu, in the Start Search field, type: C:\Cabs\D20109-001-001\Setup.exe, and then press ENTER. 2. In the User Account Control dialog box, click Allow/Continue. 3. Follow all onscreen instructions to complete the installation. F6 Floppy Install: Note: A Microsoft supported external floppy disk drive is required to use the F6 Floppy install feature. 1. In the C:\Cabs\D20109-001-001 folder, there are two subfolders titled F6 Floppy x86 and F6 Floppy x64. 2. Copy the contents to the F6 Floppy x86 or F6 Floppy x64 folders to a floppy disk, depending on which type of operating system you are installing. Note: The x86 folder contains the ICH8M chipset files for a 32-bit operating system. The x64 folder contains the files for a 64-bit operating system. Note: The F6 floppy install files are provided as a courtesy. Gateway only supports the operating system originally sold with your computer. Removal Windows XP: 1. From the Start menu, click Control Panel. 2. In Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs. 3. In the Add or Remove Programs window, click to select Intel Matrix Storage Manager and then click Remove. 4. Follow all onscreen instructions to complete the removal process. Windows Vista: 1. From the Start menu, click Control Panel. 2. In Control Panel, click Uninstall a Program. 3. In the Programs and Features window, select Intel Matrix Storage Manager, and then click Uninstall/Change. 4. In the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue. 5. Follow all onscreen instructions to complete the removal. Troubleshooting If you have difficulty during or after the driver installation, download the file again, and then perform the installation steps for a second time. Reason for Update This is the initial release of the driver for Windows Vista. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
